Lincoln is one of a small cluster of cities that comprises south Placer County. This close-knit community is located north-east of Sacramento on Highway 65, which links to Interstate 80 via the nearby cities of Rocklin and Roseville.
Lincoln was considered one of the fastest growing cities in the nation from 2000 to 2010, with a population increasing from under 10,000 to over 45,000. Today Lincoln retains its rural character and country charm, with a sizeable and growing population. It sits amidst rolling hills and pastures with the Sierra Nevada on the horizon. With an historic downtown, Lincoln was awarded the All American City Award in 2006 by the National Civic League.
Though established in 1890, the majority of Lincoln’s housing is new, with several community and family-infused neighborhoods and developments. Gladding McBean, one of the oldest companies in California, is attributed as a factor behind Lincoln’s establishment. Lincoln is also home to the expansive and thriving Sun City Lincoln Hills active adult community.
Lincoln is served by the Western Placer Unified School Districts and is attended by more than 6,500 students with seven elementary, two middle and two high schools. The district also owns and operates a 415-acre ranch property, which produces crops and offers a ranch management class and agricultural and environmental studies programs.
Recreation, arts, culture, and entertainment are also prominent elements in Lincoln’s way of life. Thunder Valley Casino is nearby and hosts concerts and events throughout the year. There’s also Clay Fest (a renowned national art competition every spring), Tour de Lincoln Bike Race, the Lincoln Theatre Company, golf, award winning wineries, and summer concerts at the amphitheater. A short drive away you will find a number of lakes and rivers perfect for rafting, kayaking, swimming, and boating.
